He only got 10 years, but he’s off the streets and away from children. Score one for Social Security number verification (emphasis added):

A man who calls himself the “king of child pornography” has been sentenced to serve 10 years in federal prison.

Kirk Alan Swearingen was sentenced Monday to 10 years in federal prison and to supervised release for the remainder of his life.

Swearingen, 45, was arrested by FBI agents when he gave a stolen Social Security number while trying to rent an apartment in Salt Lake City. The number belonged to a 91-year-old man. [Landlords verified the number and contacted authorities when it didn't match].

During questioning, Swearingen gave agents another fake identity. After agents threatened to run his fingerprints, Swearingen admitted he was a fugitive who had been on the run for 22 years, even having been profiled on “America’s Most Wanted.”

Agents discovered warrants in several states for child sex offenses, including Iowa, South Dakota and New Mexico. He also has a prior 1983 conviction for a sex offense against a child.

I’ve mentioned his case in several other posts:
