Visual Reactions To Congress Passing The Obama Budget

Late on Thursday, Obama’s $3.5 Trillion budget was passed by Congress (all Utah Representatives and Senators voted no on the budget).

RedState put it best (and most ironically):

To get a good feel for the budget keep tabs on the Heritage Foundation which brings us this great graphic:

And let’s wrap things up with a song:

One note:  The song’s line “hide it in your made up fica trust fund” may not be valid for long as the Social Secruity Surpluses will vanish (or have vanished).  The supluses will no longer be available to hide debt in.

  1. I think this is simply another reminder of how out of touch (or even uneducated on the issue) the writers at Redsate, and all of their fellow irrational reactionaries are becoming, or have already become.

It says more “I have no idea how the economy, recessions, or deficits work or affect things” than it does “political wit” or insight.

Can’t blame you for trying though.

  2. I note the “actual” Bush administration budgets omit the costs of overseas military operations (and other expenditures that Bush hid off-budget). The projected Obama budgets include all spending.

Honest accounting pretty much explains how a $3.1 trillion budget can grow to $3.5 trillion.

  3. I guess you didn’t read the Heritage’s post. It states:

“…in the comments are claiming that the numbers above do not include spending on Iraq and Afghanistan during the Bush years. They most certainly do. While Bush did fund the wars through emergency supplementals (not the regular budget process), that spending did not simply vanish. It is included in the numbers above…”
