2016 Presidential Quiz: Name That Candidate

See how few questions it takes for you you to correctly guess the answer (the last few are spoilers and no clicking links until you finish the quiz!):

Over the history of Presidential elections, there is just one Presidential candidate that all of the following apply to. Who is it?

  1. Which Presidential candidate was put forward as a dark horse candidate that Latter Day Saints could vote for in good conscience?
  2. Which Presidential candidate felt he could name the next President by winning just one state?
  3. Which Presidential candidate relied on funds from others to pay off debts?
  4. Which Presidential candidate declared personal bankruptcy?
  5. Which Presidential candidate had multiple marriages?
  6. Which Presidential candidate was sued for failing to deliver on promises made in his business deals?
  7. Which Presidential candidate said ““When I look into the Eastern papers and see how popular I am, I am afraid I shall be president.”
  8. Which Presidential candidate’s platform called for reducing the size and pay of Congress?
  9. Which Presidential candidate’s platform called for reforming the jail system so imprisoned persons could learn a trade while serving their time?
  10. Which Presidential candidate had a warrant issued against him for banking fraud.
  11. Which Presidential candidate was charged with inciting a riot?
  12. What Presidential candidate eloped because his bride’s father would not give approval for the marriage?
  13. Which Presidential candidate and his wife lived with his parents when they were first married?
  14. Which Presidential candidate married a 14 year old girl?
  15. Which Presidential candidate was arrested at least 42 times?
  16. Which Presidential candidate was indicted by a grand jury for perjury, fornication and polygamy?

Get it? Yeah, it was a trick quiz designed in the hope to give people pause about judging without context. Interestingly, the first few questions could apply to a couple of the candidates running. In the end, the answer involves someone very different from the current candidates who has had a lot of spin and falsehoods spread about them (then and now). Bear in mind too that: “…every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.”

The moral is don’t judge a book by its perceived cover and pray to see the truth and reality of a person and situation. We all have to make judgments prior to a decision and often we aren’t left with ideal options (far from it). Good luck.
